Denma Social Enterprises Ltd: a short summary

Denma Social Enterprises Ltd aims to be more than just supported accommodation for those young people living with us. We would like our young people to feel safe, happy and at home here knowing that there is a member of staff available 24/7 to work through any issues affecting them. Above all, our care and support is based on the individual needs of each person developing respect both for themselves and others.

Our approach

We work with our young people to help them accept responsibility for both their actions and their future. We want them to access positive opportunities and make the most of the experiences available to them which sometimes might be out of their comfort zone but on completion can improve their self esteem. We aid them to focus on the things that they have the power to change and not fixate on those that they don't enabling them to move forward with their lives and reach their potential.

We believe that trust is built through consistancy and respecting boundaries. We also believe that learning is a two way process and that's why we emphasise the twin qualities of respect and tolerance.

Our team

The Directors of Denma Social Enterprises Ltd, Denise Gibbs and Emma Barley started the business from a shared philosophy of providing a high standard of service that young people deserve to receive.

They have combined over 30 years of experience of working with young people who have complex needs. Their experience has spanned Youth Offending Service and Young Offenders Institutes, managing homeless charities for both young people and adults, youth work both detached and centre based, project work in troubled areas of London including gang prevention and intervention work including intensive support for behavioral and emotional issues and are qualified to post graduate level.

The Directors have extensive housing knowledge in the local area. They have established links with local private landlords to aid the young people placed at Sun House with finding good quality accommodation until local authority housing can be provided.

Our project workers have a vast experience of working with young people experiencing substance misuse, person centred counselling, health and mental health problems, including one-to-one, group work and outreach.

All staff are DBS cleared and all permanent staff are qualified in Safe Guarding and Child Protection.
